Cyrus Reynolds

//Composer

Cyrus Reynolds is an American composer known for his unique orchestrations and emotive storytelling. His vivid approach to textural orchestration has led to collaborations with M83 (Fantasy), Bon Iver’s S. Carey, and Decca Artists Lara Somogyi and JOSIN. He has composed the original scores for Netflix (The River Runner) and Hulu (Dark Matter) as well as custom scores for branded films with Sony Alpha, Ford Motor Co. and Titleist.

A classically trained composer, Cyrus holds a Masters from London's Royal Academy of Music. Often reveling in both an electronic and symphonic aesthetic, the heart of his sound is the orchestra, most recently working with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the London Contemporary Orchestra at Abbey Road for his recent solo album, Provenance.

In 2019, he was awarded the Royal Academy of Music’s honor of Associate (ARAM) for his contributions to the field.

Original Score, Netflix The River Runner (2021) Documentary Feature

Working with director Rush Sturges, Cyrus Reynolds composed an original score using live orchestra, sweeping electronics and a tapestry of sounds native to the Himalayas, where much of the film’s key drama unfolds.

The documentary follows professional kayaker Scott Lindgren as he sets out to become the first man to paddle the four great rivers that flow from Tibet's sacred Mount Kailash. Along the way, he is interrupted by a harrowing medical hurdle and brain tumor. This near death experience forces him to discover a new sense of humility and embrace the help of those around him in order to regain his strength and take on one of the world’s mightiest rivers.
